Dele Omokhafe Ajakaiye

AWARD WINNING FILM – MAKER | NIGERIA

After a short stint teaching, Dele Omokhafe Ajakaiye felt the classroom was a limited space for sharing knowledge and promoting progressive ideas. Fascinated by the wider reach of the media, he started a career in the film and TV industry after his studies in Education.

Having started as a production assistant over 30 years ago, he progressed to become a producer, director, and media production consultant.

His filmography includes Deadly Affairs, Tears for Love, Flesh & Blood, Blood Money, Igodo, Fearless, and Love is Not Enough-Infidelity.

Besides the works cited above, Dele has directed nine TV dramas, including One 2 Much, Living for Tomorrow, Freeman’s College, Super Story, Binta & Friends, White House, Pawns, Heaven’s Gate, and Dear Mother. 

He was awarded the TAVA Award for Most Outstanding TV Drama Director in 2010. He co-produced the award-winning Nigerian-British film, The Assassin’s Practice, which won the Best Actor award at the 2013 African Movie Academy Awards.

He has produced a couple of documentaries including An Honest Dialogue for a Clean and Just Africa (2006), An Appeal to South Sudan’s President & Vice President (2013), Trapped in The Cemetery (2016), My World of Wars (2017), as well as three short films, Fear (2008) Boots on The Ground (2014) and Fourscore (2017). He worked as the 1st AD for a yet-to-be-released transnational comedy film, In Case of Incasity, shot in the UK and Nigeria.

Dele Ajakaiye holds a master’s degree in Directing Film and Television from Bournemouth University in the United Kingdom and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Education from the University of Lagos in Nigeria.
